MERIDEN, CT – The IAFF – Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut announced their support for Democratic candidate for the Fifth Congressional District Chris Donovan. IAFF/UPFFA of Connecticut represents more than 4,000 firefighters in Connecticut.

“Chris Donovan has been a passionate advocate for fire fighters since he was first elected as a state representative, and it is a pleasure to announce that the UPFFA of Connecticut will stand with Chris and his campaign as he runs to represent us in Congress,” said Peter Carozza, President of the IAFF/UPFFA of Connecticut. “We need a representative that we can trust to fight for the working families of Connecticut. We know that Chris is on the side of Main Street, not Wall Street, and he will fight for the best interests of Connecticut’s families – for jobs, for health care, for bridges, roads, and rails, and for education.”

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the brave men and women of the IAFF/UPFFA of Connecticut. As first responders, they risk their lives every day to ensure the safety of Connecticut’s families, and it is our duty to them to ensure stable jobs with good benefits, access to top of the line safety equipment, and access to high-quality, affordable health care. At a time when jobs are scarce and unemployment is high, we should be talking about supporting our local communities by investing in hiring more fire fighters,” said Donovan.

The IAFF – Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut joins the United Auto Workers Region 9A, the Connecticut Laborers District Council, the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 777, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Blue America, former 5th CD Congressman Jim Maloney, and Simsbury First Selectman Mary Glassman in endorsing Chris Donovan as the best candidate to fight for the families of Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District.
